How much different is a wide snowboard from a regular board?

i was wondering because right now i ride a regular and i was looking for something more stable for landing jumps in the park but i dont want to lose the maneuverability when im carving down groomed slopes. can someone give me some advice. im about 5'9 155 lbs and size 10 boot
